I knew I wouldn't do this all the time!

Ok, So I'm not very good at updating this. I will try harder though. Maybe I need to make this my home page so that it is constantly in my face?!

Let's see, what has gone on in past few months? Our life has been a bit chaotic. Since I last posted, in June, we went home (CA) for a visit. We went to Mount Rainier, Mike went to sea :(, Cameron started walking and talking, Sierra started 5th grade, I started my own business with lia sophia, the list goes on...

Just to keep things organized, I should probably do a separate blog for each event... off to get Sierra, more to come later...

Road Trip!

Yesterday, we packed up and drove to the Olympic Game Farm in Sequim, WA.
We had so much fun! As you can see with these pictures, you get up close and personal with some of the animals.
If you live anywhere near, I suggest you go. It was a lot of fun for us :)

Seriously?

I am just wondering if this is normal or something we have done with our parenting skills???

As some of you may know, Mike is going in for a vasectomy soon. We have made the decision that there will be no more babies coming from us and he has (THANKFULLY) opted to have himself snipped so I don't have to. More on that later, it deserves it's own blog.

Anyway, on the 3rd, we had a "consultation" which is really another word for group meeting to watch a video made in 1980 when men wearing short shorts and mullets were cool. Actually mullets may not have even been cool yet!?

So, Sierra and Cameron go with us. No we didn't take them in - Sierra kept Cameron out in the waiting room with her and pushed him around and played with him, doing the good big sister thing she always does.
At some point of use running around the hospital asking "Where is the Vasectomy Consultation?", Sierra asked "What is a vasectomy, is it for Daddy's eyes?". She knows he wants Lasik (or equivalent) surgery. I said "No honey , it isn't but we'll talk about it on the way home."
On the way home...
Mike - Sierra, you asked about a vasectomy?
Sierra - yeah but I was just wondering if it was for your eyes.
Mike - No, but do you want us to explain what it is?
Sierra - No, I don't care. I just thought it was for your eyes.
((My feelings at this point - WHAT? Who wouldn't be curious?))
Mike - So if something was wrong with me, you wouldn't want to know?
Sierra - (Not in a mean or rude kind of way at all) I don't care.. Well, I do care but I don't care.
Neither of us understand this. For the most part Sierra is a very thoughtful, caring and loving young lady but HATES talking about feelings or anything serious. I blame Mike for this but that's another story.

So this turns into a huge ordeal because as long as she gets to play outside when we get home, she really doesn't care.
I want to have somewhat of a conversation with her about this because in recent months I have discovered that she knows nothing about sex and she's going into 5th grade... you know where all the girls know everything?! I want her information to come from us, not from Suzy's big sister, whose friends cousin once heard, blah, blah, blah. Get what I'm saying?
My 10 year old really has no clue how babies are made.

Back to the main story here... what the hell? Why does she "not care" or does she just not want to talk about it? This is very frustrating to me. What if something really was wrong with him and she had this attitude? Did we do this? Is it just age? What?

So needless to say, we never got anywhere with this conversation and she still has no idea whats going on.

So...

Everyday I say, "I really need to blog tonight"... only, it never happens. Maybe I'll try a weekly blog just to update everyone?
We'll see what happens.

Here is a rundown of what's been going on here...
I'll start with the most recent.
Yesterday (5-12-2009)
I re-injured my back. Yesterday afternoon, I was standing over the playpen talking to Cameron and all of the sudden I had this bad shooting pain through my lower back. So bad that I hit the floor, almost in tears. The rest of the day I took it easy. Thankfully Mike was home because we've both been sick. So last night I decided that I'd take a bath to relax some before I go to bed. I ran a nice hot bath, everything was fine until I went to get out. Relaxing? Not at all! I sat up and the pain going through my back was probably the worst pain I've ever felt in my life (please keep in mind I had epidurals with both kids!). I was having spasms about every 30 seconds or so. I couldn't move AT ALL. Mike had to climb into the tub to get me out. I couldn't walk or get myself dressed... he had to do it all, while I was crying and, well, freaking out. So he finally gets me downstairs and into the car to head to the hospital. That was a terrible experience in itself that I will leave out. They gave me a shot in the butt (they say hip) with something "kinda like liquid Motrin" and send me on my way. No help at all. I have an appointment with my Dr. on Friday.

Cameron is growing way too fast. He has been rolling over for months, working on crawling anytime. He just learned how to really sit up on his own at the end of last week. And on Mother's Day, his first little tooth broke through. It's bitter sweet. I am happy that he is will soon be a fun little boy running around and talking, however, I am sad that he is not going to be a baby much longer.

Sierra is growing into a young lady and becoming more and more like her parents, this is a scary thing. I think she is probably "grounded" a couple of times a month. At least it seems that way. Her attitude is unbelievable at times. I hope we make it through her teenage years. Wish us luck!

Some interesting facts... I have yet to try!

Who Knew?

Eliminate ear mites. All it takes is a few drops of Wesson Corn Oil in your cat's or dog's ear... Massage it in, then clean with a cotton ball. Repeat daily for 3 days. The oil soothes the cat's skin, smothers the mites, and accelerates healing.

Kills fleas instantly... Dawn Dishwashing Liquid does the trick. Add a few drops to your dog's bath and shampoo the animal thoroughly. Rinse well to avoid skin irritations. Good-bye fleas..

Rainy day cure for dog odor: Next time your dog comes in from the rain, simply wipe down the animal with Bounce or any dryer sheet, instantly making your dog smell springtime fresh.

Did you know that drinking two glasses of Gatorade can relieve headache pain almost immediately-without the unpleasant side effects caused by traditional pain relievers?

Did you know that Colgate Toothpaste makes an excellent salve for burns?

Before you head to the drugstore for a high-priced inhaler filled with mysterious chemicals, try chewing on a couple of curiously strong Altaics peppermints. They'll clear up your stuffed nose.

Achy muscles from a bout of the flu? Mix 1 tablespoon horseradish in 1 cup of olive oil. Let the mixture sit for 30 minutes, then apply it as a massage oil for instant relief for aching muscles.

Sore throat? Just mix 1/4 cup of vinegar with 1/4 cup of honey and take 1 tablespoon six times a day. The vinegar kills the bacteria.

Cure urinary tract infections with Alka-Seltzer. Just dissolve two tablets in a glass of water and drink it at the onset of the symptoms. Alka-Seltzer begins eliminating urinary tract infections almost instantly - even though the product was never been advertised for this use.

Honey remedy for skin blemishes... Cover the blemish with a dab of honey and place a Band-Aid over it. Honey kills the bacteria, keeps the skin sterile, and speeds healing. Works overnight.

Listerine therapy for toenail fungus: Get rid of unsightly toenail fungus by soaking your toes in Listerine Mouthwash. The powerful antiseptic leaves your toenails looking healthy again.

Easy eyeglass protection... To prevent the screws in eyeglasses from loosening, apply a small drop of Maybelline Crystal Clear Nail Polish to the threads of the screws before tightening them.

Smart splinter remover: Just pour a drop of Elmer's Glue-All over the splinter, let dry, and peel the dried glue off the skin. The splinter sticks to the dried glue.

Hunt's Tomato Paste boil cure... Cover the boil with Hunt's Tomato Paste as a compress. The acids from the tomatoes soothe the pain and bring the boil to a head.

Balm for broken blisters... To disinfect a broken blister, dab on a few drops of Listerine, a powerful antiseptic.

Vinegar to heal bruises.... Soak a cotton ball in white vinegar and apply it to the bruise for 1 hour. The vinegar reduces the blueness and speeds up the healing process.

Quaker Oats for fast pain relief... it's not for breakfast any more! Mix 2 cups of Quaker Oats and 1 cup of water in a bowl and warm in the microwave for 1 minute, cool slightly, and apply the mixture to your hands for soothing relief from arthritis pain.

Hi! I guess this is my first "blog". I never thought that I'd do this type of thing but something has apparently changed. I started one of these about 2 years ago (maybe) and never did anything with it.

I just want a place to rant and rave (I do this a lot), share things I like, pictures and stories of the kids, etc...

So.... Easter is just around the corner, literally. I can't believe we are well into April already. Can you believe it?

This is Cameron's 1st Easter, unfortunately Mike will still be gone. I guess it isn't really that big of a deal. It's not like Cameron will be egg hunting or anything anyway.

Sierra got glasses last week. She is only a little near sighted, so she won't need them all the time. we went shopping for glasses the day after we found out she needed them. I told her she could pick anything she wanted (within reason) because I know how important it is that she is comfortable and confident wearing them. We shopped for hours, hitting everywhere we could think of, trying on hundreds of pairs but it didn't matter, she knew what she wanted. Of course she is a little like me and a little like Mike - which makes her A LOT picky but whatever, she is her own person! Anyway, we got to JcPenney and she found the perfect pair. She said I have to have these! We ordered them and she could not wait to get them. I must have heard about them 20 times a day until they came in. She loves them so much. It was so cute, she was so excited to get them. I have never seen anyone so excited about getting glasses. My little girl is awesome, I love her!

Off to bed for now... until the baby wakes up anyway!
